We're heading to Daytona next week! I'll be driving the Casey Carden Motorsports Mazda MX-5 in the World Racing League's 2018 Concorso Daytona 14 Hours race. We finished second in this race last year and plan on moving to the top step this year.
With no practice or qualifying these races are always tricky as you have to jump in blind, use the tools you know, and quickly find pace. Luckily with our experience last year we will be in good shape and I plan on spending some time on the simulator as well.
One other challenge with Daytona in June is the heat. Last year we faced high temperatures but also downpours which lead to hard driving conditions but also steam when the sun came back out. It was one of the most miserable stints I have had in a race car. This year I'm going in more fit than last thanks to an increase in training (thanks Honey Stinger for the fuel).
Follow along through my social media pages and I will of course have a full recap here after the weekend. The race is June 9 and if you're local admission is free, just sign a waiver at the gate!
